Do you think you are (or you would be) a better parent than your own parents? Why or why not?

I know for a fact that I will be a better parent than my dad at least.

I don't know how he can live with himself when he does what he does to me. If my daughter wanted to kill herself because of me, then I'd probably go jump of something very tall.
I'm not saying he's always been a bad parent..I have fond memories of us going to the bagel shop every day when I was in kindergarten and going on bike rides with him. Money changes people, I'll just say that. Will I ever be able to get along with my father again? No, not for more than 5 minutes at least. The only reson we haven't killed each other is because he's gone so much.

I swear to god that I'll never treat my children that way.

a lot of good people have jerks for parents. my parents aren't jerks, but i don't agree with a lot of the parenting decisions they've made, (like treating my younger sister differently from me). Being a parent is a big responsibility. The good part is you take away what your parents did right with you and improve where they didn't towards your own kid.

don't let your dad get to you. men typically care less for their kids than women do. keep your head up hon. just do good in school and set yourself on the right path so you wont have to rely on him. good luck!

I hope that I will be infinitely better at parenting than my own parents, especially my father.

Yes, I agree with spankylicious. That was a great comment. And hey, maybe one day you and your father will be able to work things out. It can happen if you both really want it to. I can't really relate though because I don't really have a father and I've never had that connection, but I can still empathize. But, yeah, just keep on moving with your life and proove to him what a wonderful daughter he has and how much he's missing out! :)

Thats weird. I could have sworn I commented on here the other day.
I am sorry you struggle so with your dad. Mine was an absent father for most of my life. Amazing how THEIR actions have to so negatively affect our lives.

When I have kids they will not be enrolled in school. Instead, from the day they are born they will be playing World of Warcraft similar. Then they can live in a nice little fantasy world of talking cows
